Fredrick T. Owens Village Hall

Named for the Orland Park mayor who was a driving influence behind construction of the complex, the village hall is the mot prominent of the buildings in form and function. A modern clock tower almost 100 feet in height, rises above the building and makes it a visible reference point for the area. As a way of further emphasizing the importance of the building, the architect designed the village hall as the only symmetrical building in the complex.

The main entrance is located on the south side and overlooks a linear village green and includes the Orland Park Peace Memorial or "Ara Pace." This stainless steel sculpture was designed by well-known sculptor Virginio Ferrari. It is believed that this memorial is the fist of its kind in the State of Illinois and possibly in the United States, to honor all six branches of the armed services: Army, navy, Marines, Air Force, Coast Guard and Merchant Maries. In addition, a 12 foot-long granite monument displays engraved names of veterans, living and deceased, from all across the country who served in all wars.

Inside the main Village Hall entrance is a grand, two-story, sun-lit lobby, around which village offices are located in separate areas. On the north side of the building opposite the main entrance is the village board room. Windows covering the north wall flood the board room with natural light and create pleasant views of the lake and woods beyond. From the outside, the building's three-story north elevation curves gracefully in an arc above the lake.
